          "text": "Various points raised by Kevin Maroney and alga:\n\n1) On Clute: it's true that Clute's contortions of\nstyle can hinder accessibility of his mass-audience\nreviews for that audience; but I think this misses the\npoint of why SF WEEKLY, Dorling Kindersley, and others\nsimilarly commercial have employed Clute to produce\nmaterial for them. It's because of his style, which,\nfor whatever reasons, has won him a wider popularity.\nMaybe his critical poetry strikes chords in unexpected\nplaces; but he is very widely read, and not because he\ndumbs down his prose.\n\n2) The contents of STRANGE TRAVELERS: disappointing. I\nhad really hoped for a volume including \"Empires of\nFoliage and Flower\", \"The Night Chough\", \"Houston,\n1943\", and various other major late stories. Is a\nfurther collection in prospect? I hope so.\n\n3) David Hartwell's role in persuading GW to produce\nUOTNS: as he is Wolfe's long-time editor, couldn't we\nsee Hartwell as a sort of Hierogrammate, patiently\nrecording the rescripts of the Increate? And sometimes\nprompting them?\n\n\n====="
