"text": "Thanks to Matthew and Thomas for their responses to my\nTwo Typhons note. Let me just say that I was trying to\nreconcile the physical details of Typhon's reign on\nUrth (in URTH) with the nature of the Whorl. In URTH,\nTyphon doesn't seem terribly much more powerful than\nthe succeeding Autarchs (who after all also carved\nmountains in their own images). He can't escape when\nthe rebels close in, so his interstellar and even\ninterplanetary travel capability appears rather\nlimited. And Urth being impoverished by the needs of\nthe Whorl's construction would explain a lot, both\nmaterially and thematically. And the Cargo are\ndefinitely from Urth (see the forthcoming IN GREEN'S\nJUNGLES)."
