For me this is a story about reading stories. Hence\nthe title."

          "text": "Perhaps the character in a book reading and the Catholic parable\nreading aren't incompatible:  Chesterton, after all, quite a few\ntimes talks about Christianity as being highly in tune with the\nspirit of Boys' Adventure Stories (and, more generally, the idea\nof the novel).  This is an idea Wolfe is certainly familliar with\n(and his essays in CASTLE OF DAYS have some of the same spirit).\nYou could also tie in Muriel Spark's take on this in THE COMFORTERS,\nwhich certainly links being a Creature of God and being a Character\nin a Book.\n\n\n\"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.\" John 8:32"

No matter how many times\nwe read the story, Tackman will never be a minute older than he was at the\nend of Death's sentence (heh, accidental double entendre there).\n\nI guess he could be refering to Tackman's story getting older as we read\nit over and over.\n\n-Rostrum"
