          "text": "The Changer swaps things with cognates, i.e. rough equivalents.\nThe thing moving under the leaves is surely a Copperhead snake,\nwhich has been swapped with a Serpent from another universe.\nThat also accounts for the identity of the man swapped for the\npresident - supreme leader, big boss - at the end, and of course\nhe's annoyed.\n\nThings that confused me:\n\n1. Are Boone and General Martens the same person?\n\n2. Who gets murdered and why?\n\n3. The dialect gets impenetrable at the worst possible moment\n   - what do \"groose\" and \"grawnt\" mean?\n\nSpectacled Bear."
