          "text": "Disclaimer:\n\nI haven't yet read Gormenghast, though it's \"on the list\".\n\nI didn't watch the TV show yet because I prefer to read things before\nI see any film/TV adaptation and I figure it won't be too hard to\ntrack down a copy of the film when I do finally read the book.\n\nBut I wanted to alert the truly curious to another adaptation of\nGormenghast, namely the \"rock opera\" version.  The sample tracks I\ndownloaded didn't do a thing for me, although the composer, Irmin\nSchmidt, is a musician I very much admire as one of the founders of\nthe seventies-era German rock band CAN, which this stuff sounds\nnothing like at all!\n\nGo to:\n\nhttp://www.spoonrecords.com/\n\nAnd follow the Gormenghast links for information and downloadable\nextracts.\n\nDan"

          "text": "Somewhere in storage I have an anthology of rare psychedelic rock from the\n60s which includes a track by a group called, iirc, Steerpike, which\nreleased a concept album whose concept was that Steerpike was the true hero\nof the Gormenghast books.  I have no recollection whatever of what the track\nsounded like.\n\n--Adam"
