          "text": "   Hmm... let's see...\n   Once again, I am durn near accused of never reading\nthe book, atleast, that's how I feel every time I read\nthe line \"the book says\" or \"the book demonstrates\"\nesp. in context to humanity achieving spacefaring\ntechonolgy, and utilizing it.\n   For what I hope will be the last time, I did NOT\nsay that, I do not support the idea of man never made\nit to the moon now or ever, including in reference to\nTBotNS.\n   What I am saying is (entirely hypothetical), if you\nwere living on Earth, and you had a rocketship, and\nyou were suddenly told that, for some reason,\neverybody capable of leaving the planet MIGHT wish to\ndo so, and you were presented with evidence that\nsufficiently convinced you that you should leave\nEarth...\n   Would you do so? (let's assume you reply with a\n'yes' here)\n   And just because you left Earth, does that\nnecessarily mean that the apocalypse you feared\n(whatever it may have been) actually took place?\n   And assuming that Wolfe is envisioning a future,\nand (however unlikely it may be) he envisions this\nfuture, how exciting would a world that doesn't\nsupport life be, really?\n   Not very, I think.\n   And how exciting is a world with no meaningul\nhistory?\n   But we know these things already... I'm just\nsuggesting, that POSSIBLY, there was a \"predicted\"\ncalamity that drove off many people in possession of\nspacefaring technology, and that maybe they didn't\ntell anyone who didn't need to know, or who couldn't\nleave, because their chances of leaving in riot\nconditions might have been hampered, and then that\nwhatever happened did not happen.\n\n   That's all\n\n   Please do not accuse me of bearing the view that\nhumankind has not reached the stars in TBotNS.
