          "text": "This is going a long way back to the list discussion of PEACE, but I ran\nacross the following in Everyman's Encyclopaedia of Gardening and was\nforcibly reminded of the tree on Weer's grave:\n\n\"Danger in Elms. It is known that elms of fifty years old and upwards are\ndangerous, as they have a habit of casting their branches. this is\nimmortalized in an old verse:\n\nEllum, she hateth\nmankind and waiteth\nTill every breeze be still\nTo drop a limb\nOn the head of him\nWho doubeth her sovereign will.\"\n\nAnd further on:\n\n\"The common belief that Elm wood is of little use except for coffins is\nill-founded.... The wood is not of the best for fuel, although perhaps\nhardly deserving such severe condemnations as:\n\nElm wood burns like churchyard mould,\nE'en the very flames are cold.\n\nFallen elms, however, do not attract even the poorest of fuel-seekers, as\nthe boles are hard to saw up.\"\n\nThis all seems very vulpine.\n\n---\nOutgoing mail is certified Virus Free."
