Speaking of which, is there some significance to "Marsch"? I note that John Eastwind and John Sandwalker in "A Story" are named after circumstances connected with their birth. And what is John V. Marsch's middle name?
Well, Victor. But V is also the Roman 5.
Roman V, as well as being a numeral, was also the vowel "u." For French-speaking citizens of the double planets, W (as in Wolfe) is double-v. For English-speaking citizens of the twin planets, W is double-you. =mantis= Sirius Fiction booklets on Gene Wolfe, John Crowley PEACE INDEXICON update SOON! http://www.siriusfiction.com/
