It's actually Edogawa RAMPO. He wrote a handful of supernatural/mystery stories that crop up in English from time to time (particularly "The Human Chair"). The best bet is for them to pick up his JAPANESE TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0804803196) which seems to collect all the stories I've seen elsewhere.
