"text": "As an engineer Genew Wolfe knows that simple forms can\nsupport complex structures.\n\nCaverns lined with stalagmites and stalactites or\nancient forests with overarching trees are often\ndescribed as resembling cathedrals. This is true but\nmisleading. There is something magical, even sacred\nabout such places which is why those forms were\nreplicated in the great cathedrals that have awed\npeople for over 1000 years\n\nOne technique that is required when attempting to\nconstruct an aleph in a finite number of words, is to\novercharge words or phrases with multiple meanings.\n\nLet's start with the first word in Borski's\nconcordance :\n\nAbos\n\nSuperficially it is short for aborigines... those who\nwere there from the start.\nMust usually nowadays it is associated with the\nAustralian natives whose dreamtime came to an abrupt\nend with the arrival of the Europeans.\n\nBut let's look deeper.\n'Ab os' is latin for 'from the egg', i.e. not clones,\nplants or machines.\nSo they could be any animal.\n\nABOS. Abbreviation for American Board of Orthopaedic\nSurgeons... possibly of interest when so many of GWs\ncharacters have problems with their legs! Maybe his\nchildhood polio left its mark.\n\nAbos... A theatre-lover in Switzerland (remember my\nGeneve/Saltimbanque theory) could buy an 'Abos' which\nis a season ticket allowing the holder to visit any\nproduction over the course of a year... To avoid\nforgery they are often 'fancifully decorated' ... what\nwas \nthat odd key M. Million placed on the lintel?\n\nAlvaro Abos, South American mystery writer, biographer\nand historian. I believe he is a contemporary writer,\nso I regard this connection as spurious... unless you\nknow better.\n\nA B O are the major blood groups this may be of\ninterest to geneticists and others.\n\n\n\n\t\n\t\n\t\t"
