There are stones  \nin South America so closely fitted that you wonder if somebody hasn't  \nbeen doing something like that. Now maybe they just very laboriously  \ncarved these stones so that they fit right into each other, but you  \nwould think they would just carve them flat like Joe blocks so they  \nwould do that but they don't. They wave round and so forth but they  \nfit. They key into each other nicely.\n\nWhen I read this bit, I immediately went a-Googling for information,  \nbut couldn't find any at the time.  Today I saw that someone has  \ncontinued that work:\n\nhttp://www.materials.drexel.edu/Pyramids/\n\n From the white paper:\n\n\"In the mid-1980s, Davidovits proposed that the pyramids were cast in  \nsitu using granular\nlimestone aggregate and an alkali aluminosilicate-based binder that  \nhe named a geopolymer. Hard\nevidence for this idea, however, remained elusive until our very  \nrecent paper in which we present\ncompelling microstructural evidence that supports his idea in part.  \nBased on our work, it now appears\nthat the glue that held the limestone aggregate together is not an  \nalkali aluminosilicate-based binder,\nbut more simply, an amorphous silica binder. Also, in disagreement  \nwith Davidovits, we do not believe\nthat the entirety of the pyramids are cast; only select critical  \nparts such as the outer and inner casings,\nand most probably the upper echelons.\"\n\nThe original research was:\n\nJ.
