I believe at  one \npoint he indicates it is long and hard to pronounce, and I suppose it would  \nhave been Italian in origin.  The reference to a pirate named \"Cos\" or  \"Kruss\" \nwould seem most likely to be a mangling of his first name,   \n\nBruce  Trinque\nAmston, CT"
