On another etymological note, I've been re-reading the mailing list 
archives, and someone wonders about the fliers' names. In fact 
they're Irish. Off the top of my head:

Grian: sun
Aer: air
Mear: finger
Sciathan: wing

Otherwise I'll have to check Sumaire.
