The idea that Horn/Silk's astral\nself is the ghost of Malrubius is very creaky, in\nflagrant contradiction of everything imparted\nconcerning this aquastor or eidolon in THE BOOK OF THE\nNEW SUN. Wolfe's SFBC Note actually means in all\nlikelihood that by accepting the existence of the\nparanormal--astral projection and the like--we also\naccept the literal reality of ghosts of the dead. Just\nas the ghost of Pike was indeed Pike's spirit, so the\nghost of Malrubius is indeed the deceased Master\nMalrubius. Nothing more complicated than that...\n\n--Nick Gevers."
