Wyman's Garden Encyclopedia\ncomes partly to the rescue:\n\nCHENILLE COPPERLEAF (Acalypha hispida): A house plant, native of the East\nIndies...the red flowers are born in spikelike drooping racemes...sometimes\nit is called the Red Hot Cattail...\n\nI have actually seen these flowers in the tropics, both the drooping ones\nand another upright rather contorted kind (echevera leucotrychia) that\nWyman's lists but does not elaborate on, and yes they are fuzzy and of a\nbrilliant \"unnatural\" red--scarlet leaning toward fuschia.
