You\ndoubt that Trivs come from next door to Nessus on Urth, but I urge\nyou to recall the odd Turko-Persian allies (the Daughters of War, et\nal.) fighting alongside Severian at the Third Battle of Orithyia . . .\n\nUsing a grid (perferably hexagonal) for plotting; knowing that Trivigaunte\nis closest to Viron; having some notion of how distant Palustria is\n(50+ leagues); knowing that Viron fought against Urbs . . . we can\nput down all the named cities in a fairy ring around Viron, then\nextrapolate this pattern of equidistance by the number of cities we\nthink there are (200) and the cylindrical nature of the Whorl to get a new\nballpark figure on how large the Whorl living surface is.\n\nRe: Mamelta's citizenship.  Well she might not be Vironese in the\nsense of \"contributing to the tax base of Viron\" <g>, but she does live\nin the Vironese underground mine of ancestors/descendents.
