Reply: Item #7414904 from WHORL at LISTS.BEST.COM@INET# Kevin McGuire, Well the contexts (being a polite intercity telecom service unit versus being the controling intelligence for a planetary landing vehicle) are different enough that, even if the monitors are virtually identical (i.e., more similar than a tv and a computer display), they would have room to act differently. But they always act like nannies, so maybe the perception that there is a difference is flawed? Since Wolfe said that if Typhon had known anything about the inhumi he would have been quite against them, maybe this also shows up in a special directive, as you suggest, but not specifically "inhumi" just "non-human" (which would cause lander monitor to ignore chems) or "alien." =mantis=
