Kevin McGuire,

Well the contexts (being a polite intercity telecom service unit
versus being the controling intelligence for a planetary landing
vehicle) are different enough that, even if the monitors are
virtually identical (i.e., more similar than a tv and a computer
display), they would have room to act differently.  But they always
act like nannies, so maybe the perception that there is a difference
is flawed?

Since Wolfe said that if Typhon had known anything about the inhumi
he would have been quite against them, maybe this also shows up in a
special directive, as you suggest, but not specifically "inhumi" just
"non-human" (which would cause lander monitor to ignore chems) or
"alien."
