Not to deny the saint Dorcas/Tabitha\nat all, no sir.  Just that \"Dorcas\" =means= gazelle; this is not a\ndebatable point.  (Tabitha is Aramaic for gazelle, I believe.)\n\nDICTIONARY OF NAMES:\n\"Dorcas\" (Greek) A gazelle\n\nLATIN DICTIONARY:\n\"dorcas\" feminine gazelle, antelope\n\n(hmm, so which is it: Greek or Latin?)\n\nDICTIONARY OF WORD ROOTS AND COMBINING FORMS:\n\"dorca, -do, =s\" (Greek) A gazelle\n\nThe encyclopedia entry under \"gazelle\" states that there is a dorcas\ngazelle (G. dorcas), which isn't surprising.\n\nI'd swear there's an interview with or article by Wolfe that says\n\"Dorcas means gazelle\" but I can't find it at the moment, so maybe\nI'm mistaken.\n\nIn any case, I'm surprised that I didn't mention this in the Lexicon\n(where I did allude to the resurrected widow of Bible lore), or, having\nfailed that, that I neglected to mention it in either errata chapbook.\nWell, that's how it goes, doesn't it?
