"text": "I have a question. First of all, is the Blue planet Urth of Severian's\nsetting. If so then that would make Green the Lune and the inhumi some sort\nof followers or desendence of Agia? Maybe? I'm pretty doubtful on this\ntheory. But if Blue is Urth then it is in the future most likely after\nSeverian brings the New Sun and the Urth (Ushas) need repopulation. But I\nhave doubts and would like some feedback to see if this in any way makes\nsense.Thanks.\n \n \n Xury\n\n\nQuestions or problems to whorl-owner at lists.best.com"

"text": "Perhaps someone can help me out on this one:\n\nIn tBotNS, Typhon gets his head grafted onto poor Piatus's (?) body \nobviously in order to prolong his life and reign. Since he seems to \nhave had the technology to copy/store his consciousness in a computer \nand thus posess people at will, surely this would have been a better \nmethod of achieving the same thing with Piatus or whoever. I do remember that \nTyphon made a big deal about his face, and that it was important for \nthe leader's face to remain, but he could have gone the Lemur et al. route \nand fashioned himself a chem.\n\nWhich leads me to suggest that, since he didn't, perhaps Mainframe \nrepresents Inhumi technology which, for some reason, Typhon himself \nhas access to. I know that, certainly by Severain's time, there is \nnothing new under the sun, but maybe it's possible?\n\nOn another note, I can't help liking Xury's idea about Blue being \nUshas, perhaps, like others, because I'd prefer to see a stronger tie \nin with tBotNS. The current Pas/Typhon is such a weak link on its \nown. Perhaps it could have happened like this:\n\nTyphon is getting worried: the exultants are fleeing Urth and a \nmiracle worker has arisen telling everyone about the New Sun and \nspreading foment. So as a gamble on the future he builds a generation \nstarship, fills it with Urthers who, by the end of the journey, \nwill worship him as a god, and sleepers who will have all the technical \nknow-how necessary to rebuild the Empire, while Typhon et famille\nare copied into the ship's mainframe (problem above still thorny, \nthough), the plan being that Typhon will posess some unlucky \nindividual and resume his activities once they reach Urth (sort of a \n\"Carry On Despot!\")\nAfter a subjective near light speed journey of 300 years, the ship returns to \nUrth, now Ushas. The coming of the New Sun has caused the old \ncontinents to sink, and according to Dr. Talos play, a new race of \nmonsters has arisen? Another effect of the New Sun's arrival is \ngravitational upheaval throughout the system, causing Lune's orbit \naround Ushas to become eccentric, thus they periodically meet in \nconjunction.\n\nKieran\n\n____________________________________________________________\nKieran Cleary\nSenior Research Engineer\nNorth West Labs\nFinisklin Industrial Estate\nSligo\nRepublic of Ireland\n\nTel. +353 71 69441\nFax. +353 71 69451\nemail kcleary at tinet.ie\n___________________________________________________________\n\n\nQuestions or problems to whorl-owner at lists.best.com"
