          "text": "First thanks to all on this list and the Urth list.  I\ndevoured all I could while waiting for IGJ.\n\nTwo theories:\nRegarding the the cryptic passage near the end of OBW,\nI believe this to be a 'forest god' of the neighbors\nand thought that Horn/Silk/Rajan told the children\nabout the encounter with the gods of the neighbors\njust after that episode.  Horn was 'comforted' by the\nencounter just as the mother comforted and raised\nSeawrack.\n\nRegarding the transformation of the narrative between\nOBW and IGJ, I believe this ties into the identity of\nthe narrator/protagonist.  It appaears from some of\nthe clues that we've been given that Horn's spirit at\nthe instant of his death was loaded into Silk's body\nat the height of Silk's despair over the death of\nHyacinth.  In fact it appeared to me that Silk was\ncovered in blood and was alone after conducting\nHyacinth's final sacrafice or funeral rites.\nTwo characters fused at their very lowest points.  Add\nto this Horn's possible realization upon fusion that\nthe Silk of his boyhood was just a man and now a\ndepressed and despondent man, possibly in self-denial\nand I see OBW as occurring and being written as\nHorn/Silk struggle with the identity question and the\ndepression and despair following each of their\nfailures, Horn's on Green and Silk's (as yet unseen)\nin the Whorl.  \nIn fact, I think that OBW and IGJ can be seen as\ntherapy with IGJ being written as the narrator is\ncoming to terms with their lives, divided in the past\nbut joined for the future.\nI don't think this is taken so I'd like to use the\nhandle \"Emrys\" (hoping that there's a Welsh colony\nsomewhere in the Whorl.\nEmrys"
