          "text": "I agree with mantis that Loris (or Lemur, or one of the other\nprosimians) is a prime possibility for Blood's father.\n\nAnother might be Quetzal's unnamed predecessor as Head of the Chapter. \nSome numbers which may help:\n\nQuetzal has been Prolocutor for 33 years. Maytera Rose has been senior\nsibyl for 43+ years when she, uh, dies [III, 116pb].  Blood was born\nwhen she was forty, and Maytera Betal was still alive then.  Blood is 56\nyears old (I don't have the reference, correct me if I misremember). So\nMaytera Rose dies at the ripe old age of 96.\n\nI think Tussah is _probably_ out of the running; his probable dates just\ndon't seem to fit well with when Blood was born. I visualize him as\nstill being relatively young when he dies, but others may of course\ndiffer.  If he died at about age 70, his dates would fit well with\nMaytera Rose's and he might be a possibility.\n\nTimeline:\n\n-300+: Maytera Marble \"born.\"\n-300: _Whorl_ launched.\n-100: (approximately) _Whorl_ arrives in Blue/Green system.\n -96: Maytera Rose born.\n -56: Blood born.\n -43: Maytera Rose becomes senior sibyl. (Maytera Betal dies?)\n -36: Maytera Mint born.\n -33: Quetzal becomes Prolocutor.\n -30: Pas killed.\n -23: Silk born.  (Chenille, too? I don't recall)\n -21: Calde Tussah dies. (Silk \"just learning to walk\")\n  -1: Patera Pike dies.
