Gene Wolfe's _Peace_

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

It's certaily one of his best. I almost missed it forever, but someone
spotted it along with the "Aries" book at a used book sale for a buck each,
and picked them up for me, knowing that I was a big fan.

One of the things that makes a book "good" for me is if it *haunts* me
afterward - a good one will have me daydreaming about it and making
involuntary associations with the people and things around me in the world,
days and weeks after having read it. Almost everything Wolfe has written
does this to me. He is wonderful, a magician.
