Shaving Clones

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Not a retort, this post was meant to lighten up where I felt I was getting
too serious. And you have to admit, the many-Severians theory has the virtue
of absolving Severian of the sin of having intercourse with his own
grandmother. Of course, whatever it is that he was doing instead would
probably be quite a sin in its own right, though I'm not sure anyone has
devised a name for it yet.

Not to mention the ability to bring in anecdotes about Spanish barbers or
the set of all clones who aren't clones of themselves.

I don't think you deserve a glib or dismissive answer to your actual
argument, which is why I posted this separately. I'll continue separately
and on a more serious note tomorrow.
