a WK observation

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I kept waiting for something through the two books and, in
retrospect, I find it interesting that it never arrived.

There were no scenes involving groping around in the darkness, were
there? If anybody can remind me of one please remind me.

There were plenty of blind men in Knight and Wizard, of course. There
was one generally invisible monster, and I think when Arnthor had
Able in chains it was pretty dark. But no impossibly lush
descriptions of plodding along in complete darkness tlike the ones in
every other Wolfe series I have read.

I wonder if this has to do with Able's stature as a true hero,
probably the least tainted "good guy" of any of Wolfe's major
characters.
