This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

A prisoner could be chosing between a cell and a homestead on the frontier. But still, why would there be that baby restriction? Maybe just that the authorities deemed it too dangerous for babies to travel that way. So the warship clears out the enemy strongpoints and the colony ship delivers a load of undesirables to act as pioneers--win/win! (Meanwhile, if the ships take twenty years to get to the target, how goes the war on Earth or in the Solar System? Maybe the war on Sainte Anne/Sainte Croix is more like Pearl Harbor [isolated surprise attack] than all of World War Two [a huge war between Great Powers]? The better model would probably be islands in the Carribbean during the Pirate age.) =3Dmantis=3D *More Wolfe info & archive of this list at http://www.urth.net/urth/
