Two tombs

don doggett · 04 Jul 2006, 18:27 · from 2006-July.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

One is Severian's analog (Ymar, imo) or Sev himself,
the other his twin sister (probably Merryn, possibly
Valeria) though I feel strongly that the sex of Sev's
twin is variable. There's a lot of gender ambiguity in
Wolfe's work, it seems to me, beginning with 5HC.

p.s. I've finished Soldier of Sidon, and I couldn't be
more pleased. If anyone else has read it, feel free to
write me offlist. Otherwise, I eagerly await the
October discussions.
