This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

You are slightly misreading me, I think, or more likely I wasn't being as clear as I thought I was, as I thought I was being very careful *not* to say "because there's so much hearsay, we know that shape-changing and mimicry are definitely going on." There are far more concrete reasons to believe the Annese are mimics. My only points were that (a) Annese shape-shifting/mimicry can't be *dismissed* just because it's hearsay, and that (b) the sheer volume of this hearsay should warn us that something important is being communicated. Exactly what that 'something' is we can argue about indefinitely, and knowing this list we no doubt shall. My own take on it is that we are simply being told "the myth that the Annese could change their shape is too widespread not to have some basis in reality."
