Vonnegut (1922-2007)

Matthew King · 13 Apr 2007, 16:54 · from 2007-April.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The Arma Virumque blog has an interesting note on KV's passing, from
which:

Surely I'm not alone in having spent much of middle and high school
reading Kurt Vonnegut and then much of college sneering at anyone
gullible enough to read him. If Vonnegut?s novels are anything,
they?re easily outgrown, but what is easily outgrown is very often a
perfect place to start. I owe a lot to those books, for one thing the
ability to see their influence on some of today?s worst writing.
