ot-my mini review of Children of Hurin

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. versions I have), but these things are always subjective.  I much enjoyed  
Heaney's translation of Beowulf, although I do wish there had been something a  
little more of the robust flavor of the mead hall in it, but I would be  
hard-pressed to name a translation I would recommend over it to anyone who had  not 
previously read the poem (and definitely to read it as a poem, not  prose).  And 
I have the highest regard for Mitchell's Gilgamesh.

The  Children of Hurin is
superb and tragic.

I am happy to see your highly favorable mini-review; I have the book on  
pre-order and anxiously await its delivery.
