This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

CITADEL, chapter XXXIII, second page. Severian, speaking of the _Samru_,
"The ship's only real armament, a swivel gun . . ."

The appendix also mentions "Severian's failure to distinguish clearly
between space-going and ocean-going craft." [in the "manuscripts"]

Baldanders also says, in answering Valeria's question about who will live if
the continents die, "Those on ships, possibly. Those whose ships are in the
air or in the void, certainly." It is clear from the context that the first
sentence refers to ships at sea. (URTH, chapter XLII, p-300)
