Pirate Freedom: Chris' "Luck"

Matthew Keeley · 29 May 2008, 17:27 · from 2008-May.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

(Do we still do spoiler tags for Pirate Freedom?)

In any case, I know we're always looking for other iterations of Chris, and
I'm wondering if Chris' other self influenced one of his duels. As I recall,
Chris engages in a pistol fight with a hunter and master gunner, in which he
expects to die. Of course Chris survives. I believe Chris is standing near a
jungle area, so I imagine hiding a "sniper" wouldn't be too difficult.
Perhaps Chris was tailing himself to make sure he "won" the battle? I don't
think Chris was just lucky.
