What's So Great About Ushas

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Of course fathering a white hole on an insect is absurd. But so are Time Corridors, FTL ships, astral travel, aquastors, ghosts, blood-sucking shape-shifting reptiles that can fly high and fast enough to achieve escape velocity then travel through vacuum and land on another planet safely, werewolves, etc., etc., many of which have been used in the Sun Cycle by Wolfe. You just have to accept it, like vampires in a vampire story. And you are right, Hieros and Hierogrammates can't be lumped together by one term; they are as profoundly different as cause and effect, and there ain't no damn Hieros who actually appear in the Urth Cycle--identified as such, anyway. -Roy
