This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Yes, I read that some time ago. I disagree with his take, but he is free to use that in his books. I don't really consider that kind of stuff errors or historical mistakes. Just an opinion I don't agree with.

Well, I know Wolfe does have some slightly esoteric theories about ancient history - for one thing, he posits at least occasional transatlantic travel in the ancient world. I wonder how many "errors" are actually examples of Wolfe's advocacy for obscure theories.
