House Absolute

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

As was discussed here recently it is not one of those plot points that is vital to book. However, I will still cling to the possibility that it is an underground nuclear base; there is a section where Severian notes strange hexadecimal shapes (someone on this list speculated that these were the biohazard symbol). That would certainly fit with this theory. As I say, I don't think it is of upmost importance anyway! House Absolute>I don't have the text to hand so I cannot verify till >I get home however I don't think the House Absolute >is in Nessus at all. Did Severian not travel North >for some time before he reached Nessus? He was walking >over House Absolute with Jonas when they were taken >capture by the Guards. Tim, It is true that the House Absolute is not in Nessus. So all that is beside the point. But the Asciians control the region north of the equator where Severian tells us everything is backwards: the freezing caps there are in the North (can you imagine?) and the warmer weather is in the South.
