This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The other statement is not exactly a lie either. "An actress with no
more vocal control than that? Perhaps I may tread the boards myself
someday. I couldn't be worse" (p. 250). It doesn't really say that
"Diana" never acted.

The phrase "tread the boards" is old-fashioned theatrical slang. Vince
Palma uses it on p. 63, "It was a privilege and an honor to tread the
boards in your distinguished company." Perhaps Donny the assassin picked
up the phrase from him. It's interesting that at the party Cassie ends
up at a table with Vince, Margaret, Norma, and Donny, all of whom I have
suspected of having plot-related secrets:

Vince (Possessed by the Volcano God? Wearing invisible headdress?)
Norma (Ex-wife of Reis? Plotted with ATF?)
Margaret (Werewolf? Spy? Jewel thief? Seller of pictures to
tabloids/internet?)
Donny (Cthulhu cultist? Assassin? Shooter of Chase?)
