Calde of the Long Sun and Learning to Read Wolfe

Dave Tallman · 14 Jan 2009, 19:34 · from 2009-January.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Or back to the Outsider, who enlightened Silk with the mission to "save the
manteoin," (which actually meant save the people of his city and evacuate
them to Blue). Silk's public discussion of that enlightenment got rumors to
spread about him, probably boosted by the Outsider. If the Outsider could
inspire one, he could inspire many others.

Kypris gave things a big boost a couple of days later by giving an
appearance at the funeral -- those sacred windows had been inactive so long
that hardly anyone believed they would see it happen in their lifetime. That
it happened to the same enlightened holy auger everyone was talking about
was a sure sign of the favor of the gods, so they must have thought.
