Ansible Interview

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Here are James pictures, which give an idea of what he is getting at.

It never occurred to me to read this as a river valley, probably because it would make no sense that way. Any depression near a steep precipice would look like a valley from the other side of Whorl. I have always understood "run parallel" to mean "on a plane that is in congruence with the line Long Sun" such that it was perpendicular to the light coming from the Long Sun...which is the only way there could be shadows.
Planes and lines can't be congruent, by the definition of congruence.
