This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I don't know if saying that 'war is sometimes necessary' is the same thing
as saying that 'war can be justified'.

It would take a page and a half for me to explain my views on the 1860's
conflict.

Lincoln's idea was, let's have one war now instead of a war every thirty
to fifty years forever. That's pretty sensible.

My position is that it is that people should be secure in the possession
of their property, and if you are going to change the definition of
property you need to compensate those who will lose by it.

If too many people start agreeing with me I have to stop and look
