more questions on Sorcerer's House (spoilers)

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Bax being well-read, I took it as Bax wanting to point out how
horrible the dwarf was by comparing him to Quilp the horrible dwarf
from _The Old Curiosity Shop_ via metaphor. To back up the theory of
Quilp-as-metaphor, if we assume the final letter is really forged by
Bax, he mentions _The Old Curiosity Shop_ with familiarity there. In
fact, it almost makes me want to re-read it to see if there's anything
else of substance to that connection...

As for the connection to Quist, Quilp was a moneylender in Dickens'
story. A jeweler is pretty close to that, in my mind -- especially one
who buys jewelery (as, typically, this service is used as an
alternative to borrowing money). In fact, with so many twins in this
book, why not Faerie and Medicine Man? I'm sure it's been mentioned.
So, who is Doris' twin? I nominate Lupine. Was the ring a gift, like a
limb?
