TSH: Ted's identity

James Wynn · 20 Apr 2010, 21:48 · from 2010-April.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The most obvious explanation is that it was a handkerchief into which
Ted was crying. That explanation seems *too* obvious in light of that
Doris would not name it, but a wolfskin does not seem to be a likely
embroidered item unless Ted's mom didn't want him to lose it when went
to Faeri camp.

And it still seems possible that whatever "wet" thing he had with him when he appeared to Doris could have been a wolf skin...although why was it embroidered with his initials? Obviously, its being wet is supposed to help us identify it, but I feel dense for not quite getting it.
