This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Or it could be a reference to Ted Griffin, who wrote the screenplay
for Matchstick Men. ;)

In all seriousness, it seems to me that Ted is short for Theodore.
Some website I found on Google says that comes from the words "Divine
Gift" in Greek. And according to Wikipedia, Amborsius is Latin derived
from the Greek word "ambrotos" meaning divine or immortal. That links
those two quite nicely for me and explains the name. Google isn't
shedding any light on Griffin. Don't mythological griffins guard gold?
Isn't Ted's ring gold?

Anyway, I apologize if this sounds flippant. It just seems as though
tossing out names from pop culture isn't very useful. I personally
prefer trying to understand the etymology of the name, a habit this
list actually got me hooked on. That said, Kiki from _Delivery
Service_ is at least slightly more believable to me because she *is* a
witch.
