Wolfe as Steamboat Pilot

Craig Brewer · 21 May 2010, 03:47 · from 2010-May.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

TWK is obviously just a reboot of _A Connecticut Yankee_...

But, seriously, couldn't we at least put an OT or "Off Topic" in the subject line once discussions go severely off-Wolfe-related-topic?

Doubtless Wolfe has read Twain. Does anyone see a particular influlence on Wolfe, other than the probably accidental superficial plot similarities between HUCK FINN and BOTNS?
