Travelling North aka miscellaneous thoughts on Wolfe

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

That's not really the interpretatation I am presenting. Urth becomes Ushas
not Earth. Urth is part of an entire universe, named Briah, which Big Bangs
into existence, runs its course then collapses and Grand Gnabs itself into
a single mass and out of existence. This single mass then Big Bangs itself
into a creation of the next universe which is called Yesod.

Yesod, in the course of its existence, has a planet called Earth which is
cognate to but not directly evolved from Urth or Ushas. Instead of Urth's
Commonwealth and Severian, Earth has South America and Jesus. I think
Earth resides in Yesod Universe because they both have an arch-angel named
Tzadkiel. Briah does not have a Tzadkiel (though it might have a Zak).

Also, I don't think just anyone can stroll up to the Jungle Hut and take a peek.
The twisting path surely leads different people to different destinations.
The labyrinthine path to the Jungle Hut resembles the path to the Atrium of
Time and the path to the Last House. I think Severian is privileged in his
access to these portals.

I think it is noteworthy that Agia (and first time readers) find the
conversation in the Jungle Hut to be a lot of pointless nonsense, but
Severian and some multiple-time readers find the conversation and its
Biblical references to be fascinating and perhaps fraught with meaning.
(True also of Dr. Talos' play).
