This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Tangentially related to the "Elephant & Castle" thread . . .

Hey, can anybody help me answer this question:

I'm looking for a Latin inscription on a marble arch, probably either
the Marble Arch or the Wellington Arch (commemerating Waterloo?),
both on the borders of Hyde Park.

I want the full Latin inscription, and a translation would be handy,
too. Footnotes (wah-hoo) for those who can find what I'm looking
for.

If there is no Latin on either arch, that too is an important data
point.

Thanks in advance!

Ever curious,
