This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I think it is more like, they let it happen as late as they possibly could
without endangering the success of the New Sun. This meant a dying urth
about to disappear under its final ice age with a population in the
millions rather than billions, so that the minimum loss of life would be
necessary for the coming of Ushas.
