Patera Inire

António Pedro Marques · 19 Jul 2010, 13:02 · from 2010-July.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

This question ties in with something that's been bothering me, namely the
notion that Inire is a very important character that mandates everything.

I think the problem people are having in determining Inire's intentions is
that he as none. I don't see evidence that Inire has any purpose of his own.
All I see him doing is upholding the Autarchy, as if he had been assigned
that singleminded task. His letter to Severian reminds me of what AIs in SF
reply when their master asks them to give a report of the situation and the
options available.
