This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Inuus's name was there in your original remark.

Considering Wolfe's regard for linguistic rigor, I find an Inuus -> Inire 
substitution quite unelegant.

Latin verbs were also not quoted in the infinitive, but the present S1, so 
_ineo_ is how one refers to the verb.

_Inire_ may have been (was) used in copulating context, but that wasn't its 
primary meaning, not any more than it is the primary meaning of english 'enter'.

For all the identification of Pas with Pan, I don't see what the similarity 
between them is in the sexual regard. (Well, Typhon was naked when Severian 
met him. But shrivelled, he says.)
