This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Ah, thanks James. You got me to look up xiphias. Swordfish genus! Nice.
Don't forget to include Remora in your piscine collection.

I had always assumed xiphias refered to the xiphoid (Gr.swordlike) process 
at the bottom of the sternum or gladiolus (L. sword) bone. They always teach 
you in CPR class to be careful of the xiphoid process.

The Latin verb "inire" in its sexual penetration meaning, gave rise to the
Roman god name Inuus. Inuus is an older species name, used by Darwin 
and Linnaeus, for the tail-less Barbary macaque monkey.

But now you tell me that names have no meaning in Wolfe's work. What a waste
of time it was for me to have found the monkey-inire connection. Crap.
