This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Here, Wolfe's probable > beliefs must trump our own. The concept of "anonymous Christianity" is built on the precept that Christ's sacrifice is sufficient to save everyone for all times, and that His transcendent grace is not restricted by human ignorance of the gospel. This is held to allow innocent pagans, unbaptized infants, etc. to constructively embrace salvation without exposure to the gospel or the capacity to intellectually comprehend it. There's a sort of darker side to it, in that missionaries who bring the good news give people who otherwise wouldn't the chance to affirmatively embrace it but also to overtly reject it.
